REQUIEM FOR THE REDHEAD?
Recent gene research has identified that the occurrence of red hair is caused by a single, mutated recessive gene. Redheads seem to be a particularly interesting piece of Darwinian evidence: only 4% of the UK has red hair, redheads come in clusters and migration causes their evolutionary downfall. What would the UK be like without redheads? Who would there be to tease about being a ‘Carrot-top’ or to provoke into losing their flame-haired tempers?
Lucy Cash is an artist who works with both live performance and film. Her recent film work explores a territory between documentary and fiction, whilst continuing an ongoing concern with the relationship between sound and image and the choreographing of movement within and between frames.
