WHAT IF?

What If? is a powerful examination of the direction that ‘evolution’ has taken the human race in the 150 years since the publication of On the Origin of Species. Performed in a studio with musicians Gary Crosby and Peter Edwards and contrasting views of city life with shots of the fast disappearing Arctic regions, the film asks what if we got it wrong?

Lemn Sissay is the author of four poetry collections and the editor of The Fire People: A Collection of Contemporary Black British Poets (1998). His most recent collection of poems, Listener, was published in 2008 and his work has appeared in many anthologies.

Sissay is currently artist in residence at Southbank Centre and Patron with Jaqueline Wilson of The Letterbox Club, a book trust initiative to get books to children in care of the social services. His latest work is a solo theatre piece commissioned by Lyric Hammersmith entitled Why I Don’t Hate White People.
